they closed shop at work early 'cuz Chris (manager) was sick...Cat (another manager who was working the day) worked up 'til 10...afterwards (i was let off like 9something) i went over to Jacques'...Brian was over there, hadn't seen him in a long time...it was a movie night...first The Filth and the Fury, this documentary about the Sex Pistols i had seen a while back...then Naked Blood, this japanese movie that was quite good...even successful at making us wince...then we watched Caligula, which ruled as well...

Have you seen Audition? It's by Takashi Miike. Not only did it make us wince, we basically, uh, begged for mercy.

no but i have seen Visitor Q by the same director...actually Jacques had rented both at once from Black Lodge but i only had the chance to see the one...he said Visitor Q was better...and while not really wince-inducing, pretty cool (well, it'd prob'ly make a lot of ppl wince...it's not really gorey, but really fucked-up)...but to its credit, Naked Blood had a cactus wearing a v.r. helmet...i love the japanese...

i loved audition, and i actually wasn't cringing as much as i thought i would during the last scene. miike is fucking rad.

semi-unrelated: have you seen any of the ring movies? because they fucking rule...

but Audition creeped me right out.

i'm not a big fan of stumpy dudes that hang out in bags and eat vomit.

i guess the long hair thing is in reference to the ring 2, which was, by the way, the second creepiest movie ever.

Hey, hey, don't pick. Audition *is* creepy, and not really for the gore. More for illustrating you can't trust people or judge by appearances. And for showing that you should never fuck with dancers. They all crazy!

I even moaned and groaned in the last scene, but maybe for show? I don't know, I've seen worse, though watching a woman saw her nan off doesn't sound much fun. While we're talking about over-the-top Japanese splatter films, ever seen Riki-0? Perhaps one of the first and best of the ridiculous.

you should see the ring movies. at least the first two. i have decent dubs of all three, but i think black lodge does as well. oh, audition was sorta creepy, but not because of the gore. truth be told, i did kinda have to clench my teeth a little when she was sawing his legs off with the razor wire. the sound was well-done.

oh, god. riki-oh is fucking tremendous(ly funny). i love that movie, especially when that guy tries to strangle the title character with his intestines, and the warden guy says "that guy's got a lot of guts", or something similar. i need to procure a copy of that.

I have it on DVD. Well, technically I bought it for my roommate, but all that matters to me is that it's in my apartment and accessible. Have you noticed the shelves and shelves of porn in the assistant warden's office? And the mints in the eyeball, woo ha!

¡ay!...it's been a while, i even forgot about "that guy has guts" which is prob'ly the key plot point of the entire film...

I think I need a monthly dose of Riki-O just to keep myself going in this desolate world.

i wasn't talking about Audition, just the Ring movies...as i haven't seen Audition and all...

the "sawing her nan" off part wasn't too bad, as her leg was in the way...but it did show the nipple and the eyeball...though Naked Blood is actually a genuinely good movie...the end makes absolutely no sense...maybe the symbolism was over our heads...

and yea, Riki-O's funny...it's been a while since i've seen it...
