It's So Bad
Yesterday was pretty awesome. Mary Beth and I went downtown to the Cossitt Library for a night of videogame movies. Some event sponsored by Black Lodge and Craig Brewer with a bunch of movies back to back and stations all around with consoles from different eras for everyone to play. I didn't play any games, but we settled down for the movies. They opened up the whole upstairs of the library which seems to mostly have been cut off for decades. It's a pretty huge space, one big loft/warehouse open area. The whole of the "box" you see from the library's exterior. I actually got to thinking, since Crosstown has been pretty crummy with their communication on my electronic music festival, maybe this would be an even more perfect space for the event? I may start looking into that. I love that building. Well, we start off with Wreck-It Ralph which we'd never seen. It was a pretty good pixar movie. Next was The Wizard. It was actually a lot less inept than I remember it being. I mean, there are quite a few very inept moments that really stand out (and are mostly what anyone remembers about the movie) but it wasn't so bad as I remembered it being. Next was Tron which is just always great. They were going to show King of Kong but ended up having problems with the dvd so they skipped it. This proved fortuitous as I'd seen that before but I hadn't seen the last movie and we were getting a bit stretched in the marathon-ness. So we watched Super Mario Bros. and it was just about exactly what I'd expected, that is terrible and barely watchable (I'm only not saying "unwatchable" because I technically made myself sit through and did manage to watch the whole thing). So yeah. After that we wandered a little downtown and ate a late dinner at Oshi. All in all a nice good fun time, yo. Oh yeah, and Rick showed up and sent me a picture of my back without talking to me (horror movie shit) and Matt showed up and talked to us for a bit. There ya have it.
