Brought to You by the Number Five (5)

Mostly been a long week so far, or the past two days. Hard catching up after the trip. Been way behind on sleep for a couple days. I did catch up last night so have felt good today. Monday was Monday. Yesterday was really crappy. Kids were being really crappy. One class in particular. Was talking to a parent briefly at the tail end of class out in the hallway (I sent her to the office earlier that period for cussing me out) and then class ended and as they were leaving someone knocked some stuff over (they were all being crappy and argumentative earlier). As I said, I'm dead tired to top all this off. I was told during lunch I had to go to some compstat meeting at the regional office and that was pretty lame and useless (it was really for algebra 1 anyway, to top it all off). After that I ran some errands for Mary Beth and my evening picked up when I voted! It was fun and exciting to finally get that out of the way. Of fucking course I voted for Obama. There weren't many other things to vote for. Congressman, Senate, and State Senate (plus two referendums). I also of fucking course voted for Steve Cohen. Then the rest I went straight Democratic. I kinda regret that now for our Senator. Didn't know anything about this one before, but it turns out the guy got the Democratic nomination as a sort of fluke as they were all unknowns and his name was first on the ticket. After he got the nomination the Democratic party disavowed him for his ties with some Christian anti-gay hate group and are urging all Democrats to vote for the write-in of their choice, refusing to give him any support. Oh well, I'm sure the Republican incumbent will win anyway. The guy running for State Senate was running unopposed. One referendum was to increase the county sales tax. Voted no as sales taxes are way too high here anyway. I would favor a lower sales tax and an income tax (even though yes it'd be a pain in the ass) as sales taxes put more strain on the lower classes. There was also one for a one cent per gallon gas tax within the city to fund public transportation. I voted yes. I am for public transportation. There was my voting. I got my sticker and wore it proud to work today. I've got two senior classes and was giving some big encouragement for those able to vote to do so. I like how excited so many kids seem to be about voting. I was also encouraging kids to not just vote for presidents, but for every type of election they can when they turn 18. I'm excited about voting right now too! After work I went to this math collaborative meeting. It was just the textbook people again. Not too much that was new. I did eat a ton today. Someone was by to sell us insurance or whatever after work and they had pizza in the library so I stopped by and got a little. There was a little bit of sandwich at the collaborative meeting, but that was the algebra publisher so I went to the other room for my textbook and they also had some Muddy's cupcakes (I had one tiny one). After that, being right next to Five Guys, I stopped there so we could finally try it. I didn't have my expectations high, but it was quite good, especially for fast food (to be fair, it was medium speed). I got home and what was waiting for me in the mail? the next two lps of the Lake of Fake singles club releases! Number 4 and number 5. What's awesome about #5? It's the one The Family Ghost is on! So it's finally out! Very very exciting shit. There were delays (especially on #4, obviously), but it's awesome that it's here. Here are some things that got overlooked in my last post: I got a couple things in the mail last week. I forget what day, but one day I got an Ernie Ball stereo volume pedal. That was probably Thursday. Pretty sure. Friday I got another set of Boss half-rack ears (to mount that new pitch shifter unit, what to fill the other space with?, hm...). I came home on Sunday to a package waiting for me with two t-shirts from Threadless: one with Link drawn out with a url link's characters and one with a barrel delivery dude confronted with an out of order elevator and a stairs map of how to get to the top where Donkey Kong is. Anyway, this is important and exciting stuff.
