In Office
During the day yesterday, I did a miniscule attempt at computer surgery, taking my laptop apart to see if there was anything dumb obvious like some connection to the hard drives being messed up, but of course I didn’t see anything. The laptop has two drives, one a larger disc drive and the other a smaller solid state one. I couldn’t even see the ssd, but maybe since it houses the os and all it’s just a bit of circuit board and doesn’t look drive-like. I didn’t spend too much time digging around it anyway since there’s not much I’d know what to do with anyway. Also, I had the classic thing of having one screw left over after I’d closed it up (but I went back and found where it should go one easy layer in). After work I finished reading The Infernal Desire Machines of Doctor Hoffman by Angela Carter. It was good. Then Mary Beth and I went and did our Kroger grocery run. Not a whole lot else. Today it was in to the fucking office. As I’d expected, it was completely pointless. It was nice to see some people I hadn’t seen in a long time, but work-wise I just sat in a cubicle with no practical effect than what would be if I’d worked from home. So two more days of this. And then repeat the three days every month. Hopefully someone gives up any idea of usefulness they think this has and lets it all fizzle away (like so many things) because it is pretty completely pointless. I didn’t even get to see Zach because his team took today to do an outing and they were off doing fun stuff away from the office (although, even given what they did (eat Central, drink at Wiseacre, go to a Redbirds game), I’d rather be at home!). We had some catered lunch and it was alright but, of course, yeah, I missed out on my usual luchtime reading time and I’d rather have done some reading. Oh, and I got a "new" badge made (Terminix branded 'cuz mine was still ServiceMaster) and they just made stickers to put on each side (same picture as before but the colors on the printer are off now and it looks really weird). After I got off work Mary Beth and I did our Fresh Market grocery run. Then we went on a walk around the neighborhood, very lovely out. We saw a bunch of cats today (even Io out and hanging out with Sylvie!, we don’t see Io outside very much anymore). We ate dinner on the back deck. Well, that’s about it. Nights (/days) feel so short after going into the office!
