officially the best band in Memphis

got my exam back yesterday...i got like a 64...the class average was like a 60...so ummm...whatever that's worth...

after class i went and got Jacques and then we went and got Brad...first we went to Lastchance...i sold my recent Meat Puppets purchase and got instead:
Bardo Pond: Amanita
John Fahey: Womblife
Big Black: Songs about Fucking
the Big Black cd was new...making up for my aforementioned recent venture into new cd purchasing...as i already knew the Big Black album rules (why it rules, i have no idea...but it does...) then we ate at Crapplebee's and it took forever...then back to Brad's to wait for Keith to show up...he did shortly...w/ Chris Graves...more on that might come later...

we went out to my house to rock...we worked on most of our stuff...we recorded two of the songs..."Taken" (currently our only song w/ a proper title)...we did that w/ my new vocals...i was all worried i might sound stupid...especially screaming...but then i went ahead and screamed the last part...and it sounds fucking cool...it's like the coolest part...it all sounds like Justin Trosper...which is what i was going for...so i guess that's good...i guess we just have the same type of voice: flat, deadpan, monotone, low key, and bad...(in a good way, of course...for Justin Trosper at least...)

we also recorded the song Jacques has lyrics for...he had written another verse too...it fucking ruled...we finally have the structure for that song down...and this one part the bass and drums drop out and it's just Keith and i on the guitar doing single note picked stuff together and it sounds fucking amazing...i can't even believe it...none of us can...the recordings of those two songs were great...so far our most together and arranged songs...

also right as Keith was about to leave...he started playing this song that he came up w/ a few months ago...then i did this thing on the guitar that went w/ it and it fucking ruled...that's all...hopefully we'll be able to work on that one soon...

and today: after class i went to Lastchance again...i got:
Christian Death: Catastrophe Ballet
Bardo Pond: Lapsed
the CD was a bit on the expensive side...but it's supposed to be good, like their first album (Only Theatre of Pain...which somehow manages to fucking rule...) i also looked on the back and noticed it had some cd-rom stuff on it...so at least that alone should be funny enough for the price of admission...it'd better be anyway...and the album had better rule or i'll be pissed...yea...

also...we almost went to the Map Room w/ yesterday's recording last night...to book a show...as i'm positive by whatever date we'll definately be ready...(we're prob'ly even ready enough to manage something now...) but Brad wanted to wait 'til we had better versions of everything recorded...but i still maintain that the two songs on the tape are good enough to book a show...but anyhow...we'll prob'ly do that sometime next week anyway...
