okay, now the other stuff...last night was the Silver Apples show...it was really awesome...of course, it makes you nervous when you're seeing someone who was great 40 years ago, but it was surprisingly good...the opening band was called Loto Ball Show and they were okay...they had detracting goofy stage antics and i was set to hate them and at first i did, but some of the music was alright...there were moment that were even pretty good but overall not anything worth seeking out...Silver Apples is just Simeon now...it would have been awesome to see him play The Simeon, but there was nothing so extravagant...he had a couple of oscillators he spun around and the majority of the music came from an oldish drum machine/sampler...he had the drums and bass and rhythm parts preprogrammed on that and he'd sometimes play parts on the keypad...and of course a radio for "Program"...oh, i was sure he'd play some of their best songs, but he played ALL of them...all of my favorites! it was pretty awesome...and "Program," "You and I," and "Oscillations" were especially great...as i said it would've been great seeing The Simeon, but he's old and deserves a rest from playing everything with every limb and joint and singing at the same time...the setup didn't sound as good as the original recordings, but it was still a great show...the few new songs were surprisingly pretty good too...there weren't a whole lot of people there, but everyone who was was pretty into it and excited...you could Simeon was really happy when we applauded at the end...i found his smile pretty touching anyway...i got some merch: Silver Apples: Gremlins (tour cdr ep), Silver Apples: Decatur (a cd from 10 years ago with a couple other people that didn't involve Danny Taylor and is just a long instrumental jam, as i'm finding out now), and i got a sticker and a poster...well that was the show...today i'm back to working on the phone and my normal schedule and not waking up early...so there's that...and i guess that's it...
